This email (with attached pictures) just landed in my inbox:

M., born 9.24am on September 22 by C-Section.

Weighed in at 7 pounds 12 ounces or 3.540 Kg for the metrically minded.

Same length as I. was when he was born (48cm) but an extra 800g
heavier (I. was 2.7kg/6pounds).

Everyone's happy and healthy and expected home on Wednesday morning.

B.

B is one of Mr Bea's friends from uni. They drink together every Friday night. Every fucking Friday night. And unless I am much mistaken, he just had his second child. So either... that was the shortest pregnancy ever to produce a baby that looks suspiciously full-term or...

I had on of those just 10 days ago Bea.
It was a nephew born to the stupid bitch my brother had trapped himself to.

Cow didn't even give up smoking before the planned pregnancy & didn't while pregnant either.

This too was their 2nd while their 3yo barely speaks any English due to the fact he's been raised by the TV since day 1.

Not very good parents.
My brother it too obsessed working to provide & she is just a plain bad mother. Full stop.

God I hate her.

I suppose what I'm getting at Bea is that you're not alone.
My Hubby pisses off for the week days tomorrow.
Hey, do we live near each other?
Maybe we could be miserable & lonely together?
I'm in the Illawarra region BTW.

I've just re-read your post....
Did Mr Bea not tell you they were expecting?????

If yes,
OMG!!
I thought I was the only one to have a husband think it was "for the best" to do that.
In our case it was his brother.
HIS OWN BROTHER!!!!!
He walked into the room one day & said "oh well. It looks like ***'s just had another girl" I spluttered "what" half a dozen times before I went on a screeching rampage asking why the fuck he fucked me over & how did he think it would've ended up etc etc.

That was a few months ago - May I think.
I refuse to see them (they're interstate thank fuck) or anything & I'm still feeling terribly detrayed by what I see as my husbands deceit.

OMG, keep me updated.
PM if you want or via my blog.
You're more than welcome.

I still have a drive-by baby announcement sitting in my inbox, also for a second child, and I'm working up the courage to reply.

I'm not defending him but something you guys need to understand is that we're damned if we and damned if we don't. We see how much you guys suffer when another person announces a pregnancy and things are still going to shit for us and we, misguidedly, do what we think we need to do to protect you from that pain.

Like any 'deception' we don't mean it maliciously and it's only that we don't think ahead that means we end up not knowing what to do about it when we finally realise we've backed ourselves into a corner.

The other possibility is that Mr Bea really didn't know. My boss' wife was 8 1/2 months pregnant before anyone in the office knew anything about it. Sometimes guys just don't talk about it.

The fact is that we're just not very bright. Don't blame us. It's not our fault that we've got no brain to speak of :-)

Go ahead hit the roof. That one deserves it.

Was it Mr. Bea or his friend who did the withholding of information? Either way, not good.

I would be pissed off too.

I agree with zhl - go ahead and hit the roof.

Even though I knew it was coming, I was still surprised to get the news of the birth of a coworker's first child. I just wasn't ready for it that day.
