I told my massage therapist, who was planning her wedding and wanting to get pregnant on her honeymoon, not to wait to start trying because it wasn't easy for everyone and it might take a while or require medical intervetion. She was really unhappy with me when she was two months pregnant at her wedding.
Sigh... it is more common than people imagine. But some people have no trouble at all.
When you get that news--even if she was the nicest person in the world and you want the best for her--it's just like, "thank you for the punch in the gut."
In a slightly different vein... I'll never forget one of former my co-workers coming into our office looking a little shell shocked. He said to me "Make sure when you start trying for kids you are really ready. Because it happens fast." His wife had gotten pregnant on the first try... about 6 months before we started trying. As circumstance would have it, we are again co-workers and I'm still trying. Frequently when I see him, I want to scream "You said it would happen right away!"
Wow! I have a similar story. A female colleague in her mid-30s with a three year old dropped by my office expressing shock and amazement that she was facing a possible extended period of conceiving -- "like it could take up 15 or more months to actually deliver -- not the standard nine it had taken for number one." Since she seemed generally bewildered I offered her insight into my years of treatment with no positive outcome. I then suggested she not waste any time and try acupuncture as a first step on her way down the infertility treatment path. I promptly provided her my acupuncturist's contact info. Guess what? Eight weeks later she tells me, "Thanks! It worked. I'm expecting." Now I get to watch her expanding waistline. I wonder if I get naming rights??

Do you get credit for a referral fee from the RE she sought help from? ;-)
Crap, it didn't take her long ! At least you can laugh.
That was quick! I wish the rest of us could be so lucky... At least you can laugh about it.
Of course she is. And to think you gave her until March! She didn't need nearly that amount of time.
Clearly, she IS married to her sister's husband!
(OK, not really)
Sigh . . . well at least now she knows she's not infertile.
Glad you can smile.

I'm all for charging a referral fee.
UGH, Bea. The world can be so unfair and confusing somedays.
*hug*
God, that is like some weird conversation that would take place in some crazy chick flick about an oops pregnancy or something. Too ironic for words.
Hmmm...by March...

You do have to laugh. And then you might have to vomit, and ultimately craft a voodoo doll in her honor :)
Well, the truth is - good for her. May we all be so lucky.
I want to know if this good deed counts for back then or for now? :-)
Holy shit.
holy mother of pearl. im sorry...but you guessed it--at least she made it past march. goodness...glad you can laugh..sort of=)
Perhaps you are a bit psychic?
All you can do is laugh.

Wow- the universe is really tilted!
So it took her ONE month from your conversation to conceive?! Mmmph.
Good for her, but ouch.
